The Dane County Regional Airport has a full-time (1.0 FTE) vacancy for an Airport Maintenance Crew Leader position in Madison, WI.

Normal

Schedule:

April - October:
Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. November - March:
Monday through Friday, 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm

Undesirable Hours Premium Pay: Employees assigned to this classification at the Airport also receive undesirable hours pay of $3.00 per hour for any time worked between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., and for any time on Saturday and/or Sunday.

The Eligibility List created will be used to fill future vacancies of the same classification over the next six (6) months. All are encouraged to apply.

DEFINITION

Under general supervision, directs the work of airfield maintenance employees at the Dane County Regional Airport. Performs skilled maintenance and repair of airport buildings, grounds and paved surfaces. Operates light, medium and heavy-size motorized equipment. Performs related duties as required.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Performs and directs an airfield maintenance crew in the performance of maintenance of airport airfield areas, buildings, building systems, hangars, lighting systems, parking lots, paved surfaces (runways, taxiways and aprons), and equipment and vehicles. Trains other employees. Assigns work activities. Operates heavy, medium and light equipment used in airport maintenance, snow and ice control/removal operations. Inspects airport facilities to determine problem areas and takes corrective action.

Performs and directs crew in performing snow and ice control operations. Assesses airport operational status and changes during emergencies, snow removal operations, and construction and maintenance activities. Maintains various records related to airfield maintenance activities. Enforces safety rules and regulations and is responsible for work progressing according to project plans and specifications. Attends staff meetings and trainings as required.

Education, Training and Experience

Any combination of education, training and/or experience equivalent to a High School Diploma/GED and four (4) years of experience maintaining asphalt and concrete paved surfaces and operating intermediate and heavy motorized construction equipment, including lead work experience.

Certifications/Licenses

Must possess a valid Wisconsin Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with “N” (tanker) endorsement.

Special Requirements

Candidates who reach the final selection stage will be subject to an FBI criminal history records check, TSA security assessment, employment history verification, and a driving record background check. Must be available for work at any time including nights, holidays, weekends during winter and severe weather events, and for airport emergencies. Random drug and alcohol testing required. Also refer to the “Physical and Environmental Work Requirements” section below.
