Material Handler, Forklift Operator
ROLE OVERVIEW
Responsible for ensuring accurate inventory counts, communicating any inventory variances to the Operations Planning Manager, and assisting with daily shipment and receiving of goods. Organize production materials and supplies for easy retrieval by material handlers in the production area.
WHAT YOU GET TO DO- Responsibility for inventory control for warehouse items and all supplies used in the plant (bags, cartons, raw material, finished goods, production storage locations, labels, pallets, tape, etc.).
- Evaluate production jobs when the last issue is completed to verify appropriate material was issued and the appropriate finished goods were created and moved to the warehouse.
- Prepare products by banding, wrapping, and labeling finished products and placing them in finished goods area(s).
- End‑of‑month inventory responsibilities (all goods receipts and issues posted before the last day of the month).
- Perform cycle counts as required to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Receive finished goods from production by verifying materials by batch and quantity and placing materials into stock.
- Perform physical inventory for raw material, finished goods, regrind material, and production supplies.
- Create purchase requests for warehouse items and production supplies.
- Perform stock transfers directed from Customer Service and coordinate relabeling activities.
- Investigate all discrepancies found during counts and report them to the Supervisor/Operations Planning Manager to allow timely adjustments.
- Know all SAP warehouse transactions, including AIMS errors, etc.
- Back up Shipping Clerk/Receiving Clerk duties when the primary clerk is not present.
- Serve as a driver when needed, maintaining a DOT physical and a Commercial Driver's License.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Work safely and maintain a safe work environment: attend required training, identify and report hazards, wear required PPE, and be accountable for self and coworker safety.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Participate in and/or support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Forklift certification required.
- Current Commercial Driver's License required.
- Working knowledge of computer operation, specifically applications relevant to Amcor Mankato.
- Ability to communicate by providing pertinent information to departments/personnel involved.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail while meeting critical deadlines.
- Working knowledge of all warehouse activities and related production activities.
- Good math skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
