Job Summary

The Warehouse Associate is a part of the Division of Facilities Planning & Management (FP&M), Department of Physical Plant in the operational area of Stores at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. As a Warehouse Associate, your work will support the daily warehouse operations by receiving, processing, and organizing a wide variety of deliveries. This role involves frequent interaction with coworkers, FP&M tradespeople, and vendor delivery personnel.

Responsibilities include interpreting packing lists, maintaining accurate inventory records, developing expertise in warehouse products and materials, ordering and utilizing a computerized inventory management system. This position requires the ability to work independently in a secure, climate‑controlled warehouse environment while ensuring efficient inventory control and distribution of supplies.

Ongoing/Renewable. Full‑Time: 100% FTE. Hours are typically scheduled from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Monday to Friday.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Inspects and inventories received items and processes notifications to appropriate entities
  • Tracks inventory levels and places replenishment orders following established vendor procurement procedures
  • Generates inventory reports to account for available stock and usage
  • Shelves inventory and maintains organization
  • Provides product information, guidance, and training to customers and coworkers

The Division of Facilities Planning & Management (FP&M) is a full‑spectrums service organization that builds, maintains, and operates the physical environment of UW‑Madison in the university's education, research, and outreach activities.

Compensation

$23.00 hourly minimum. The minimum rate for this position is $23.00, but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Required Qualifications
  • Customer service experience with a diverse range of customers, including varying backgrounds, needs, and communication style
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Strong Attention to Detail
  • Ability to obtain Forklift Certification within 1 year of employment. UW‑Madison provides classroom training and support to obtain the certification.
Education
  • High School Diploma; preferred
