JOB SUMMARY:

The main purpose of this job is to manage new construction and inspect existing plant for TEC. This job includes identifying and mitigating risks, reporting, and documenting progress and issues, driving and monitoring facilities to insure they meet with TEC standards, and communicating with the project managers and plant management during the process. This position is the lead onsite / field inspector and will supervise other inspection and quality coordinators that are monitoring new and existing plant for TEC.

This position will communicate with contractors and resident engineers on site to correct any issues with new construction. The position will communicate issues on existing plant to local management and the Director of Plant Operations. The person in this position relies on experience and sound judgement to plant and accomplish goals, performs a variety of tasks, and is expected to successfully use a certain degree of creativity and latitude.

The Plant Construction & Quality Manager is expected to adhere to regulations, Company policies and values, and to represent themselves and the Company in a positive and productive manner.

Adherence to all standard operating procedures, safe work practices as found in the TEC Safety Handbook, and OSHA guidelines is essential to promote safety of all employees.

ESSENTIAL JON FUNCTIONS:

The essential job functions and duties described below may not be the only requirements of the position. It may be necessary to follow other instructions or perform other related duties as required by the company.

  • Regular travel for Company related work using a personal vehicle or a company vehicle, therefore, a valid personal driver’s license and adequate insurance coverage on the personal vehicle is required at all times
  • Assist in creating a clear and concise plan to monitor its progress of construction projects and to inspect the work of the third-party engineering inspectors
  • Review existing plant and inspect for issues and needed repairs
  • Monitor daily / weekly progress of construction contractors and report progress to management
  • Review and approve contractor billing
  • Review and approve test results
  • Manage schedule of contract and internal inspectors to make sure all construction is properly covered
  • Provide reports to management on the progress of construction projects
  • Adjust for unpredictable issues, as needed, during the project and before the final stages are reached
  • Ensure that contractors are completing Engineering Change Request for all field design changes during a build
  • Frequently review the progress with the project managers and management to anticipate and plan for adjustments to budget or schedule, as needed
  • Maintain effective communication and keep the project manager and program manager up to date to minimize uncertainty and avoid unwanted surprises
  • Avoid risks or minimize risk impact
  • Monitor and analyze inspection team’s performance and take corrective measures when needed

  • Participate in nonrecurring special projects as requested by management or other departments

Requirements

Job Qualifications:

Education/Experience

High school diploma or GED is required. Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) is preferred. A minimum of two (2) years of experience and responsibility as a Construction Manager is required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Knowledge of the use of TEC’s operation systems such as for word processing. Spreadsheets, and presentations is required. This position requires efficient, professional written and verbal communication skills as well as strong organization, presentation, and negotiation skills, including maintaining and meeting various deadlines. The person in this position must possess the ability to multi-task and must be detail oriented with a background in problem solving.
