The mechanic will perform preventative maintenance and repairs on a variety of fleet vehicles and equipment, identify mechanical issues, and complete repairs in a timely and efficient manner. The position requires strong attention to detail, good troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to maintaining safe and properly functioning equipment.
Responsibilities Perform preventative maintenance and routine service on company vehicles and equipment.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and other vehicle-related issues.
Inspect vehicles and equipment to identify potential safety or maintenance concerns.
Perform repairs and maintenance on engines, brakes, suspension, steering, exhaust, and other vehicle systems.
Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, parts, and maintenance performed.
Respond to vehicle or equipment breakdowns and assist with troubleshooting as needed.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Properly use and maintain shop tools, diagnostic equipment, and other equipment.
Communicate repair needs, parts requirements, and equipment concerns to management.
Follow company safety procedures and applicable vehicle and equipment regulations.
Assist with maintaining the overall readiness and reliability of the company fleet.

401K Previous experience as a mechanic or in vehicle/equipment maintenance preferred.
Experience working on commercial trucks, heavy-duty vehicles, or waste industry equipment is a plus.
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Knowledge of basic vehicle systems, including engines, brakes, suspension, steering, and electrical systems.
Ability to perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections.
Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipment.
Ability to read and follow service manuals, maintenance instructions, and repair procedures.
Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
CDL or relevant mechanic certifications are a plus but not required.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple repair and maintenance tasks.
Dependable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
Ability to lift, carry, bend, kneel, and work in various positions as required.
Willingness to work in a shop environment and outdoors when necessary.
