Primary
Purpose:
The job of Paraprofessional Special Education Positive Support for Student Success (PASS) is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program with specific responsibility for supervising students that have been placed in the PASS program; documenting student behavior, monitoring student in classrooms, assisting teacher at providing for physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities in special education setting.
Assist in implementation of classroom programs, including self-help, behavior management, and instruction programs. Work under general supervision of principal and immediate direction of certified teacher.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma
Valid Texas educational aide certificate or willingness to obtain certificate
(at applicant's expense) within 30 days of employment
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
Ability to work with children with disabilities
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to communicate effectively
Knowledge of general office equipment
Experience:
Experience working with children preferred

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling; regular heavy lifting of students 45lbs or more. Biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases. Participation in Crisis Intervention Strategies with students in a crisis situation.
