Primary

Purpose:

Prepare and manage classroom activities and administrative requirements.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

High school diploma

Valid Texas educational aide certificate or willingness to obtain certificate

(at applicant's expense) within 30 days of employment

Any applicant for paraprofessional jobs who is recommended for hire in Magnolia ISD and has not obtained a minimum of 48 college hours will have to pass a paraprofessional assessment exam which consists of reading, writing and mathematics.

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

Ability to manage classroom behavior, communicate expectations and redirect students.

Ability to work well with children.

Have strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Experience:

Some experience working with children

Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Support

* Prepare instructional materials and classroom displays.

2. Assist with administration of objective testing instruments or work assignments.

3. Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.

4. Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.

5.Keep administrative records and prepare required reports.

6.Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.

Student Management

7. Conduct instructional exercises as assigned by the supervisor; work with individual students or small groups.

8. Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside of the classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and any assigned outdoor duty.

9. Keep campus staff informed of special needs or problems of individual students.

Other

10. Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.

11. Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.

12. Other duties assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None.

Copier, computer, and audiovisual equipment.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Moderate standing, stooping, bending, and lifting. Must be able to lift 30 pounds or more.
