Special Services Coordinator of Behavior Intervention

Provides district-level leadership and support for Specialized Behavior Support services, including program implementation, staff coaching, student intervention planning, and monitoring. Collaborates with campus teams and serves as a district resource for behavioral and social-emotional support.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Education/Certification:
  
  Master's degree in Special Education, Educational Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, Counseling, School Psychology, or a closely related field
• Valid state certification/licensure appropriate to the position and district requirements

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

• Advanced knowledge of behavior intervention principles and evidence-based behavioral practices.
• Knowledge of special education programming and services for students with significant behavioral needs.
• Knowledge of functional behavior assessment, behavior intervention planning, data collection, and behavioral data analysis.
• Knowledge of positive behavior supports and proactive classroom management.
• Strong coaching, mentoring, and professional development skills.
• Ability to assess complex behavioral situations and develop practical, individualized interventions.
• Ability to analyze data and use data to make informed educational and behavioral decisions.
• Strong communication, consultation, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years experience in social work, education, or counseling
• Experience in district-level, instructional coaching, behavioral specialist, special education leadership, or comparable role.

Major

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Intervention Support:
  Assess the behavioral, social, emotional, instructional, and environmental needs of students requiring intensive behavioral support. Collaborate with evaluation personnel and educational teams to identify student needs and appropriate behavioral interventions. Design, develop, implement, and oversee individualized intervention plans for students with significant behavioral needs.
• Consultation:
  Serve as a district-level resource and consultant regarding student behavioral, social, and emotional needs. Consult with special education administrators, campus administrators, teachers, counselors, assessment staff, related service providers, and other district personnel. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive supports for students with complex behavioral needs. Facilitate communication and collaboration between campuses and district special education personnel. Participate in district committees, problem-solving teams, and initiatives related to special education, behavior, mental health, and student support.
  
  Maintain effective working relationships with families and other stakeholders when appropriate.
• Assessment:
  Assess the needs of Specialized Behavior Support classrooms and other settings serving students with significant behavioral needs. Evaluate classroom environments, routines, staffing, instructional practices, behavior support systems, and student needs. Develop goals to improve student outcomes in relation to behavioral, social, and emotional needs. Use data to identify district-wide trends, areas of need, and opportunities for program improvement.
• Administration:
  Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and board policy. Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations. Maintain a positive and effective relationship with supervisors. Communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and parents.
• Personnel Management:
  Select, train, and supervise staff as directed Provide training and support for district personnel regarding behavioral intervention. Provide ongoing coaching, consultation, and technical assistance to teachers and paraprofessionals working with students receiving Specialized Behavior Support services.
• Professional:
  Adhere to ethical and legal standards and model behavior that is professional, and responsible. Participate in professional development to improve skills related to job assignment. Complete and satisfy other duties as assigned.
