Fire Alarm Lead Technician Helper

This role supports the full lifecycle of fire alarm projects, from initial kickoff through final completion. You install, program, test, inspect, and troubleshoot fire alarm systems while helping coordinate manpower, materials, schedules, and subcontractors. You ensure projects meet code requirements, stay on schedule and within budget, and deliver reliable, compliant fire protection solutions for customers.

Responsibilities
  • Install, program, test, inspect, and troubleshoot fire alarm systems in a variety of facilities.
  • Assist in managing fire alarm projects from kickoff through completion, ensuring all phases progress smoothly.
  • Coordinate manpower, materials, schedules, and subcontractors to keep projects on time and within budget.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and fire alarm drawings to guide installation and programming work.
  • Conduct system testing and assist with Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and fire marshal inspections.
  • Maintain strict compliance with NFPA standards, NFPA 72, and all applicable local fire alarm codes.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, contractors, and internal teams to provide updates and resolve issues.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians and installers, sharing best practices and technical knowledge.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and resources to meet deadlines.
  • Operate company vehicles safely and represent the organization professionally at job sites.
Essential Skills
  • 3+ years of fire alarm installation experience.
  • Current Texas Fire Alarm License (FAL).
  • Valid Texas Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Hands-on experience with fire alarm installation, inspection, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to install, program, test, and inspect fire alarm systems to meet code requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA 72 and applicable fire alarm codes and standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications for fire alarm systems.
  • Experience coordinating multiple tasks and managing several projects at the same time.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with customers, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed to meet project deadlines.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous project management or lead technician experience.
  • Experience with Gamewell-FCI, Honeywell, Notifier, or similar fire alarm systems.
  • NICET Certification is a plus.
  • Experience mentoring or training junior technicians and installers.
  • Ability to plan manpower and material needs based on project scope and schedule.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when documenting work and test results.

Work Environment

You work primarily out of a small office and shop located in Magnolia, TX, supporting field work at customer sites. Typical start times range between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., with the flexibility to work overtime as project demands require. The role involves driving a company vehicle to job locations, working with fire alarm equipment and tools, and operating in both office and field environments while following all applicable safety procedures.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Magnolia, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
