Position Summary
We are seeking an Associate Manufacturing Engineer to provide engineering support for manufacturing processes, projects, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role will support the evaluation and improvement of manufacturing outcomes, process efficiency, and cost effectiveness while contributing to new product introduction and new equipment or process implementation activities.
The Associate Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams, participate in technical meetings, complete assigned engineering tasks, and independently learn and apply manufacturing engineering concepts and procedures. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented problem solver with strong analytical and technical skills who can work independently and effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
This role will primarily support a 2D barcode project within a medical device manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering support for manufacturing processes, projects, and assigned engineering functions.
- Evaluate manufacturing processes and outcomes to identify opportunities for improvement, efficiency, quality, and cost reduction.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and the implementation of process improvements.
- Assist with new product introduction (NPI) activities and the introduction of new equipment, tools, and manufacturing processes.
- Support the evaluation and interpretation of engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Participate in meetings with manufacturing, engineering, and other cross-functional teams.
- Complete assigned engineering tasks and projects with increasing independence.
- Conduct independent learning and training to develop knowledge of manufacturing processes, procedures, and systems.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation and engineering-related records as required.
- Apply engineering knowledge, professional judgment, and previous experience to resolve routine manufacturing and process-related issues.
- Support project activities related to 2D barcode implementation and associated manufacturing processes.
- Communicate project updates, findings, and recommendations to team members and leadership.
- Work independently with minimal supervision after an initial training and onboarding period.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to learn and apply manufacturing processes, procedures, and engineering systems.
- Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Basic computer proficiency and the ability to learn new systems and software.
- Ability to work onsite in Mahwah, NJ.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a medical device or other regulated manufacturing environment.
- Experience with technical writing and preparation of engineering documentation.
- Experience evaluating engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes, continuous improvement, or new equipment/process introduction.
- Experience supporting new product introduction activities.
