This is a full‑time, IFPTE position. Days and hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 am – 4:00 pm, or as determined by the supervisor. Employees serving in job titles with 35‑ or 40‑hour workweeks are entitled to overtime payment at time and one‑half for approved extra time.

Under the direction of the Electrical Supervisor, perform installation, inspection, repair, servicing, and maintenance of electrical equipment, appliances, machinery, and circuits.

• Inspect electrical wiring, fixtures, appliances, generators, pumps, and power circuits; determine needed repairs and replacements; perform installation and repair work.
• Install, maintain, inspect, repair, and service power and light feeders, generating and control equipment, relays, transformers, pumps, switches, outlets, signal systems, and other electrical wiring, cables, fixtures, and appliances.
• Maintain electrical fixtures, appliances, and other equipment in good working order and replace worn parts.
• Use various test equipment such as ammeters, voltmeters, and ohmmeters.
• Make emergency electrical repairs, troubleshoot malfunctions and breakdowns; inspect work in progress and completed work for defects, fire hazards, or unsafe conditions.
• Familiarize with conduits and fittings, cables, insulators, and other equipment.
• Work from electrical schematics and specifications following approved procedures.
• Requisition, store, safeguard, and properly use electrical equipment, materials, and supplies.
• Keep records of equipment used, work performed, and time spent.
• Safeguard confidentiality of college personnel records, fiscal data, and other confidential materials.
• Learn to use the college’s electronic and/or manual recording and information systems.

The position requires adherence to the organization’s information‑security policies and procedures. All employees must protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of essential IT assets, participate in required security training, and report incidents promptly.

• Experience:
  
  Three (3) years of experience installing, inspecting, repairing, servicing, and maintaining electrical equipment, appliances, machinery, and circuits.
• License:
  Driver’s license valid in New Jersey if operation of a vehicle is necessary.
• Knowledge, skills, and abilities: understanding NEC, OSHA, cable wiring, generators, pumps, switchboards, circuits; ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and diagrams; ability to analyze and solve electrical problems; ability to install, inspect, repair, and maintain electrical systems; ability to follow safety precautions; ability to maintain records; ability to use computer applications; fluent in English (written and spoken). Sign language or Braille may be considered.
