Job Overview

The Material Handler monitors and records incoming and outgoing shipments, receives and processes incoming shipments (stocking inventory as it is received), prepares shipping materials, processes all outgoing items, and is responsible for the decontamination of all clinically used equipment returned to the Mahwah Depot.

Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties

  • Receive and process incoming shipments; package outgoing shipments and parcels, completing all required paperwork including Hazardous Materials documentation.
  • Perform surface decontamination of all clinically used equipment returned to the Mahwah Depot.
  • Restock inventory as shipments are received; perform cycle counts and physical inventories as needed.
  • Maintain a log and SAP system of all incoming and outgoing packages.
  • Maintain the loading dock area in a neat and orderly fashion; handle purchasing of all necessary labels, materials, and supplies that need reordering.
  • Respond to Sales Representative inquiries regarding transit times, physical condition of items, and shipping configuration.
  • Pick and post parts for all service orders.

Required Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Proficiency in using vendor-supplied shipping software such as UPS World Ship, Fed Ex; able to complete courier Bills of Lading.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency in working with hand tools for disassembly of large medical equipment to meet shipping configurations and needs.
  • Working ability with small power tools (electric/cordless drill, rivet guns) to complete repairs on crating equipment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a shipping and/or receiving role.

Working Hours

Monday–Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
