About the Role
We are looking for an Assistant Electrical Qualifying Supervisor. This succession role will prepare the successful candidate to step into the Electrical Qualifying Supervisor position within 12–18 months as part of the planned transition.
Reporting to the Head of Repairs, the incumbent will support the current Electrical Qualifying Supervisor by providing day‑to‑day technical supervision for a small team of electricians, including oversight of subcontractors. The role requires supervisory activity two days a week (Monday and Friday) with the remaining three days dedicated to carrying out EICRs and domestic repairs in empty properties to ensure they are ready for re‑let.
ResponsibilitiesDuring supervisory days, lead and manage the team in delivering electrical repairs and cyclical compliance (EICR) across all domestic and commercial properties in the portfolio. Ensure all legislative requirements are met, value for money is achieved and high‑quality installation, maintenance and repairs are delivered for both properties and external customers. Provide technical and operational support to the team, ensuring Housing Solutions meets landlord responsibilities and maintain company EICR registration and NICEIC membership.
AboutYou
Have experience leading a team of electricians, contract management including sourcing and selecting contractors, and conducting and analysing EICR documentation. Experience of conducting electrical inspections and repairs in domestic and commercial settings is required.
Essential Qualifications & Experience- 18th Edition (BS 7671)
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent)
- City & Guilds Levels 2 and 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent)
- City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection & Testing) or equivalent
- Proven experience in electrical installations, testing, inspection and certification
- Experience supervising or managing electricians and subcontractors
Good administrative skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, ability to work under pressure, effective communication, self‑motivation, time‑management and high levels of energy and commitment.
Flexible approach to work, including participation in out‑of‑hours duty rota where required. A full UK driving licence is essential; a work van will be provided initially. Upon transition to the Electrical Qualifying Supervisor role, a personal roadworthy car insured for business use will be required.
The successful applicant will require an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate which is considered satisfactory to Housing Solutions.
