The Town of Orono, Maine is currently seeking a full-time Payroll and Benefits Clerk. The successful candidate will be detail oriented, highly organized, flexible, able to multitask, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and thrive in a fast paced environment. Exceptional computer skills, demonstrated ability to maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders are required. Must be able to strictly maintain confidential information and exercise professional discretion.

Knowledge and level of competency normally acquired through three (3) years of experience in payroll, human resources, accounting, and accounts payable/accounts receivable functions, preferably in a municipal environment; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including spreadsheet and email programs, is required. Experience with ADP Workforce Now is preferred.

This is a non-exempt full-time position currently scheduled to work 40 hours per week (Monday - Thursday). The wage range for this position is $22.42 - $30.78 per hour. The compensation package also includes highly competitive health insurance, retirement, and time off benefits.
