Become a Sailing Counselor!

Why spend your summer staring at a screen when you could be catching the wind on Pleasant Lake? We’re looking for passionate sailors to lead our waterfront team at Camp Arcadia.

As a Sailing Counselor, your "office" is a fleet of 420s, Hobie Ones, and Optis. You won't just be teaching—you'll be inspiring. You’ll guide campers from their very first tack and jibe to advanced maneuvers like using a trapeze on high-wind days. Whether you're coaching a beginner on wind theory or prepping advanced sailors for a Regatta, you’ll be making a massive impact in a stunning Maine setting.

What You’ll Do:
  • Lead 4 one-hour sailing activity periods per day.
  • Teach
everything from basic rigging and wind theory to racing skills and boat repair.
  • Keep
the fleet in top shape through regular boat care and maintenance.
  • Provide
lifeguarding support to keep our waterfront safe and fun.
  • Assist
with high-energy Regattas and special waterfront events.
What You’ll Need:
  • Sailing

    Skills:

Proficiency in rigging and operating 420s, Hobie Ones, and/or Optis.
  • Instructional Ability:Comfortable teaching campers (ages 7-17).
  • Water Safety: Must be Lifeguard and CPR certified. (If you aren't yet, we can help you find a course! Or come early and take the course at Arcadia.)
  • Small Engine Ops: Ability to operate a motorboat for safety and instruction.
  • Team Mindset:Ready to work closely with the Head of Sailing and a crew of two other instructors.
  • Commitment: Availability for the full summer season, June 12 - August 19 in Otisfield, Maine. (If you need the Lifeguard course, you'll need to arrive on June
    7).
