Assortment & Merchandising Director
We are looking for an Assortment & Merchandising Director to join our Nordic Knots team in Stockholm. We are searching for someone with deep assortment strategy and range planning experience, sharp commercial instincts, and the operational rigour to run the product development process for a fast-growing multi-category home brand.
The RoleAs Assortment & Merchandising Director, you will be the senior commercial voice on what we offer, at what price and when. You sit at the intersection of assortment planning, merchandising, pricing and go-to-market, and you bring the rigour and judgement needed to translate an overarching vision and category idea into a clear, commercial, category-by-category range plan.
You will own the assortment planning process end-to-end - building the range plan, running range reviews, and bringing data-driven recommendations to the C-level assortment decisions. You will partner with the category Product Leads on range plans from a commercial lens, and with marketing and the commercial teams on launch execution. You will own the Go-To-Market plan day-to-day across the product portfolio.
YourResponsibilities
- Architect the assortment planning process: Drive the strategic framework for all existing and new categories, ensuring a cohesive and scalable product portfolio.
- Construct the option plan and budget splits: Translate the creative vision into a detailed commercial grid per category and season, grounded in deep market insight and financial targets.
- Lead the New Product Development (NPD) process: Lead the end-to-end development rhythm to ensure all milestones are met with clarity and on time, while fostering seamless cross-functional collaboration between creative, commercial, and technical teams.
- Engineer the pricing architecture: Define entry, core, and premium tiering across all categories, maintaining a sharp competitive position relative to the premium market.
- Translate high-level brand vision and commercial goals into structured product briefs: Act as the central filter to ensure design teams have the clarity and commercial guardrails needed to execute successfully.
- Execute rigorous range reviews and post-launch analysis: Utilize data-driven commercial insights to evaluate performance and steer future collection development.
- Orchestrate the day-to-day go-to-market rhythm: Own the synchronization of product, marketing, retail, and DTC to ensure seamless launch readiness and operational excellence.
- Strategic partnership with Category Leads: Steer range plans and supplier strategy from a commercial perspective, ensuring development aligns with the broader assortment goals.
- Synthesize and frame high-stakes assortment decisions: Prepare and pressure-test recommendations for the founders to facilitate disciplined decision-making.
- You have deep commercial instinct: you read a range, spot the gaps, and make a clear case for what belongs and what does not.
- You combine strategic thinking with operational rigour, you can own the plan and you can run the process that delivers it.
- You are sharp, data-driven and confident working with numbers, and your judgement is what makes the difference beyond the data.
- You are confident partnering with founders and senior leadership - you frame choices, challenge thinking, and take a view.
- You are structured and calm under pressure. This is a role where many threads run at once and you keep them all coherent.
- You bring a clear aesthetic literacy and respect for design-led decision-making, even as you hold the commercial line.
- 8+ years in assortment planning, merchandising, buying or commercial planning within home, interior, fashion or premium consumer goods.
- Proven experience running assortment planning processes for multi-category portfolios.
- Experience with option planning, range reviews and pricing architecture across categories.
- Experience partnering directly with founders or senior commercial leadership on assortment decisions.
- Experience owning or significantly contributing to go-to-market execution across product, marketing and retail.
