LS3P's Chief Practice Officer (CPO) is responsible for elevating the firm's design excellence, technical rigor, and innovation culture across all offices and markets. As a member of the executive leadership team, the CPO ensures that the firm's practice standards, processes, and performance align with our strategic goals and values. The position leads a multidisciplinary group of practice integration leaders who shape the firm's approach to design, technical delivery, specifications, construction administration, quality assurance/risk management, research, sustainability, innovation and digital practice.

Key Responsibilities Practice Leadership & Strategy
  • Establish and maintain firmwide design and technical standards in collaboration with practice integration leaders.
  • Evaluate and refine practice strategy annually to ensure alignment with firm goals.
  • Champion design excellence, technical quality, sustainability, innovation, and research integration across all projects.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration among practice, market, and operational leaders.
  • Drive initiatives for practice outlined in our 5‑year strategic plan.
Process & Performance
  • Lead firmwide adoption of standardized practice and delivery processes.
  • Monitor project performance metrics, including quality, documentation accuracy, and delivery efficiency.
  • Conduct and implement post‑project reviews to capture lessons learned and improve future performance.
  • Reduce RFIs, change orders, and documentation errors through improved QA/QC protocols.
Collaboration & Integration
  • Partner with market leaders to ensure practice initiatives support market and business development strategies.
  • Collaborate with executive peers to align talent, technology, and resource planning with practice needs.
  • Participate in executive leadership meetings to integrate practice considerations into firmwide decision making.
  • Engage with clients and industry peers as a representative of the firm’s practice integration leadership.
Talent Development
  • Develop and oversee professional development programs for design, technical, and sustainability team members.
  • Lead and support practice integration leaders and their initiatives.
  • Facilitate internal knowledge sharing and training events.
  • Track and improve staff engagement, satisfaction, and retention related to practice support.
  • Build and sustain a pipeline of future practice and firm leaders.
Success Measures
  • Improvement in internal and external evaluations of design quality
  • Reduction in RFIs, change orders, and documentation errors
  • Firmwide adoption of standardized processes and QA/QC protocols
  • Increased integration of innovation, research, and sustainability across projects
  • Positive feedback from market leaders, project teams, and clients
  • Strong engagement, retention, and performance of practice teams and leaders
Qualifications

For consideration, candidates must be a licensed Architect in FL, GA, NC, or SC with 15+ years of practice experience and be an LS3P Shareholder.
