Safety & Claims Coordinator

Sargent is looking for an organized, proactive Safety & Claims Coordinator to support our safety program and help keep our employees safe, informed, and supported. This position works closely with operations, employees, and the Safety team to coordinate safety initiatives, manage workers' compensation claims, track corrective actions, and maintain key safety programs and documentation.

• Partner with operations teams to develop and maintain site-specific safety plans for projects.
• Track safety-related corrective actions and follow up with responsible parties to ensure timely completion.
• Manage workers' compensation claims from initial reporting through resolution, including communication with employees, supervisors, medical providers, and other partners as appropriate.
• Coordinate return-to-work efforts and help facilitate appropriate transitional or modified-duty opportunities.
• Schedule accident investigations and ensure appropriate follow-up and documentation are completed.
• Schedule, assign, and monitor required safety training through HCSS Safety.
• Lead the annual review and update of the company's Health and Safety Plan (HASP).
• Review, update, and maintain Toolbox Talks to ensure content remains relevant, accurate, and useful to field teams.
• Maintain organized and accurate safety and claims records.
• Assist with tracking safety trends, training completion, and other safety metrics.
• Serve as a resource for employees and operations teams regarding safety processes, training requirements, and workers' compensation procedures.
• Support additional Safety Department initiatives and continuous improvement efforts as needed.

• Experience in safety, workers' compensation, claims administration, construction, HR, or a related field preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and follow-up items.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and documentation.
• Ability to build positive working relationships with both field and office employees.
• Comfortable working independently while collaborating across multiple departments and locations.
• Experience with HCSS Safety or similar safety management software is a plus.
• Knowledge of OSHA requirements, workers' compensation, or construction safety practices is a plus.
