The Maine State Ferry Service is seeking a Full‑Time Customer Service professional to work at our North Haven location. Candidates must be able to successfully start and end their day on the island without the use of the Maine State Ferry Service.
Responsibilities- Maintain and promote a calm, welcoming, and helpful atmosphere by being courteous and tactful while working effectively with the public and other employees.
- Sell tickets and collect appropriate fares in accordance with published tariff for those using vessels or parking facilities of the Maine State Ferry Service (MSFS).
- Count tickets sold and money collected during assigned shift, prepare shift activity/cash reports, and maintain records of monetary deposits and receipts.
- Provide schedules, fares, and other information to MSFS customers and the general public in person and via the telephone.
- Manage vehicle line queues while working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Clean and maintain the interior and exterior of the terminal.
- Perform other duties as required or requested by Supervisors/MSFS Management.
- Provide security awareness training and screening of vehicles, passengers, and operation of security/security communications equipment.
- Work weekends, holidays, and hours necessary to cover for staff on leave.
- Evidence of training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work demonstrating competency in applying solid knowledge of customer service principles and independent judgment to handle exceptions to established work assignments, priorities, and schedules.
- Customer Representative Assistant I and Customer Representative Assistant II qualifications assumed.
- Ability to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credential) Card within 30 days of hire.
