Consumer Protection Inspector

• Perform inspections of retail food stores, food processors, food storage warehouses, and home food processors
• Conduct sanitation and public health inspections
• Assess findings to determine non-compliance and write non-compliance records
• Some statewide travel is required

• Four (4) years of education, training, and/or experience in microbiology, agricultural science, food science, applied mechanics, regulatory/law enforcement, or weights and measures
• Must be willing to attend out-of-state training
• Must successfully complete all training with passing grade
• Must have valid driver’s license
• Competency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) required

Demonstrates expertise in conducting inspections and assessments in food safety and public health, with a strong foundation in microbiology and food science. Proficient in regulatory compliance and effective communication of non-compliance findings.
