** L.L.Bean is currently seeking a Colorist to join our talented Product Creation Team. This role requires being onsite at our Freeport, Maine headquarters 3+ days per week depending on milestone meetings and deadlines.
** In this role you will oversee L.L.Bean’s lab dip/color approval process for fabric and trims used in all apparel, outerwear, accessories, home textiles, travel luggage, and equipment. You will ensure that all requested product colors are withing established tolerances and that any issues impeding accuracy and lead times are identified and resolved. This position also entails cross-functional partnering with Design, Product Development, and Supply Chain, as well as L.L.Bean’s overseas fabric mills, trim suppliers, and factories.
** Responsibilities:**
* * Request and comment on all L.L.Bean fabric lab dips in accordance with our established process:
** Ensure that all L.L.Bean color and color process standards are properly communicated to vendor base.
* Be L.L.Bean's single point of contact for all lab dip-related issues.
* Ensure that all submittals are either within tolerance or follow correct procedure for exceptions.
* Ensure that all fabrics and trims that must match do so correctly, whether on the same product, over multiple products or based on different materials.
* Visually assess all submittals under correct lighting to identify metamerism and comment accordingly to rectify.
* Reviewing and approving shade bands and washed fabrics as requested
* Requesting, Tracking, and reporting on Lab Dips
* Stay current with color technologies
* Strong color sense (must take and pass Munsell Color Test)
* Proficient computer skills;
Microsoft Office, FLEX PLM, Teams, Illustrator
* Update all fabric/trim color details and status for Production Specs in FLEX PLM as requested by Design and Product Development partners

Qualifications:

*** 4-Year bachelor’s degree
* 3-5 years of relevant experience
* Requires a well-trained and sensitive eye for color.
* A fluent understanding of development and supply chain process (esp. specific to L.L.Bean ).
* Highly organized and knowledgeable of color science.
* An eagerness and ability to learn advanced technologies.
* An ability to assess and recommend changes to aggressive new color policy.
* Understanding of fabric/trim manufacturing process and communicating with overseas partners.
