Maine Health Behavioral Health (MHBH) seeks an experienced Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our Behavioral Health Integrated team within Maine Health Primary Care - Pediatrics. This position is primarily located at the Watson Health Center Primary Care Practice on the Miles Campus of Lincoln Hospital in Damariscotta, Maine. This is a well-established practice offering complete care to pediatric patients.
The practice values partnership with psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioners, behavioral health clinicians, registered nurses, clinical staff and works collaboratively to optimize patient outcomes. Being integrated into a practice reduces stigma for patients, increasing their willingness to participate in care.
The ideal incumbent will also be willing to practice one day a week in our Waldoboro Primary Care location, a new facility that will be opening in Spring 2026 and situated near the Damariscotta practice.
The Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist will work in partnership with all the pediatric providers in the Maine Health Lincoln Hospital system, providing education and consultation to enhance their knowledge and skillset in caring for patients. Additionally, working closely with the school-based health centers in the area will be part of the role. The ideal candidate will have a passion for treating children of all ages and young adults with behavioral health disorders.
Previous experience working with pediatrics preferred.
Part Time (benefits eligible), 20 hours per week
Position Highlights- Provide high-quality, evidence-based psychiatric care to pediatric patients in an outpatient setting, focusing on individuals with complex and co-occurring mental health conditions.
- Engage actively in collaborative treatment planning with multidisciplinary colleagues and referring providers across the care continuum.
- Serve as a clinical educator, teaching psychiatry residents and medical students through direct supervision, didactics, and clinical consultation.
- Participate in team and staff meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and opportunities for academic development and scholarly activity.
- Graduate of Allopathic or Osteopathic Medical School. Completion of internship and psychiatric residency and/or fellowship training.
- Current or eligible licensure as a physician by the Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine.
- Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or be eligible for examination by the American Board as documented by written evidence.
- Board Certified or board eligible in general psychiatry.
- Current DEA Registration Certificate.
- Demonstrated experience or strong interest in child outpatient psychiatry and treating patients with complex mental illnesses.
- Enthusiasm for medical education and mentorship, with a commitment to teaching and learning in a diverse academic environment.
