Location: Standish

Saint Joseph's College of Maine invites applications for a full-time (9-month) faculty position in the Education Department beginning in Fall 2026. This position encompasses teaching (in-person and online, as needed), service to the College, and professional scholarship. We seek candidates with demonstrated expertise in K-12 literacy instruction and literacy education, including the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate methods courses in literacy and related areas.

Other responsibilities will include but are not limited to academic advising, guiding student research, and assisting in the supervision of off-campus clinical placements.

The Education Department at Saint Joseph's College offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and Special Education, Physical Education, and Secondary Education Applicants who can support and teach in various disciplines within the department are highly desirable.

Required Qualifications:

* Master's degree in education or closely related field

* Elementary teaching or school consultation experience

* Demonstrated mastery of current issues in elementary education

* Demonstrated ability to collaborate and participate as part of a team

* Ability to connect with student and prioritize student learning

* Understanding of learning management systems (preferably Brightspace)

Preferred Qualifications:

* Doctorate in Education or closely related field (ABD at the time of hire will be considered)

* Scholarly interest in literacy education

* Experience in teacher education or teacher preparation

* Expertise in Special Education and/or Social Studies Methods

* Familiarity with online learning tools to support student engagement

* Develop and execute instructional plans that emphasize student learning

* Employ appropriate instructional strategies in support of learning outcomes

* Actively engage with learning in a consistent manner

* Constructively evaluate learners' assignments and provide timely feedback

* Maintain accurate records of learner progress

* Supervise clinical field experiences, as needed

* Potentially develop reciprocal relationships with schools and agencies to actively

support the success of effective preservice teachers
