Special Education Pre-K Teacher

2026-27 Special Education Pre-K Teacher (3–4-year-olds)

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of our youngest learners? The Hermon School Department is seeking a dedicated Special Education Pre-K Teacher who believes every child can thrive with the right support.

• Bachelor’s degree in special education and valid Maine teaching certification with 282B endorsement (Special Education Pre‑K) or be eligible
• Deep understanding of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practices
• Knowledge of special education laws, IEP development, and compliance
• Strong collaboration skills with families and multidisciplinary teams
• Patient, compassionate, and creative approach to teaching young children with diverse needs
• Preferred:
  Pre‑K special education experience, training in ABA/PBIS, knowledge of assistive technology

Reports To:

Special Education Director

• Create a nurturing, developmentally appropriate classroom where young learners with special needs can explore, play, and grow
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) using evidence‑based practices and hands‑on learning
• Collaborate with families, related service providers (OT, PT, speech), and specialists to provide comprehensive support
• Conduct assessments, monitor progress, and celebrate each child's unique achievements
• Lead IEP meetings with empathy, ensuring families feel heard and empowered
