Position OverviewThe Life Skills Teacher is a vital role focused on delivering instruction to students with diverse learning needs. You will help students develop the functional, academic, and social-emotional skills necessary for independence and post-secondary success.

Key Responsibilities- Individualized Instruction:
Design and implement lessons aligned with IEP goals, focusing on daily living skills, vocational readiness, and functional academics. - Classroom Leadership:
Create a structured, supportive environment that fosters student confidence and real-world readiness. - Collaborative Advocacy:
Work closely with general education teachers, Ed Techs, case managers, therapists, and families to ensure student progress. - Transition Planning:
Coordinate community-based learning opportunities and post-secondary transition activities. - Data & Compliance:
Monitor student progress using data-driven practices and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with state guidelines.
- Maine State Certification in Special Education (282) or eligibility for certification.
- Previous work with students with intellectual disabilities, autism, or developmental delays is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of functional life skills instruction and transition planning.
