Special Education Technician II Houlton Southside School

To provide instructional and non-instructional duties with indirect professional supervision.

The nature of this position is to work with the teacher, content specialist, and/or supervisor in planning and implementing instructional activities for students. The Educational Technician II may perform short-term instruction and management activities with indirect professional supervision. The Educational Technician II may instruct and/or supervise small groups of students in settings removed from the classroom.

Responsibilities
  • Work directly with special needs students in small groups on academic and functional skills under the instructional direction and supervision of the special education teacher.
  • Assist the teacher in devising strategies for reinforcing material or skills, based on an understanding of individual students, and their needs, interests, and abilities.
  • Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information as is expected of fully licensed teachers.
  • Assist with the supervision of students during non-instructional time, and with non-instructional duties.
  • Participate in in-service training, as assigned.
