Winslow Public Schools is seeking a dynamic and versatile Social Studies Teacher to join the Winslow High School family. The ideal candidate is a "history buff" with a pedagogical heart—someone capable of making the Silk Road feel relevant to a 14‑year‑old and navigating the nuances of Government with seniors.
This role covers the full spectrum of high school Social Studies, from foundational Civics to college‑level AP courses.
- Instructional Excellence:
Deliver engaging, inquiry‑based lessons across multiple disciplines, including U.S. History, Western Civilization, Civics, and Economics. - AP Leadership:
Facilitate Advanced Placement (AP) courses, ensuring students are prepared for the rigor of AP exams and college‑level discourse. - Curriculum Design:
Develop lesson plans that prioritize critical thinking, primary source analysis, and civil discourse. - Student Mentorship:
Foster a classroom environment that respects diverse perspectives and encourages civic engagement. - Assessment:
Utilize data‑driven instruction to track student progress and adapt teaching methods to meet various learning styles.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in History, Education, Political Science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred). - Certification:
Valid State Teaching Certification for Secondary Social Studies (Grades 9–12). - AP Credentials:
Current AP Certification (or the willingness to obtain it via Summer Institute) is required. - Expertise:
Deep content knowledge across the humanities and a firm grasp of economic principles. - Communication:
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to engage with students, parents, and administration.
