Elevate the Voice of the Black Raiders! Winslow High School is seeking a creative, collaborative, literature-loving English Teacher to join our faculty. We are looking for an educator who doesn't just teach books, but inspires students to find their own voices through writing, critical analysis, and civil discourse.

Position OverviewThe successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a rigorous, standards-based curriculum that spans a variety of genres and time periods. We are looking for an innovator who can balance the classics with contemporary texts, ensuring that every student sees themselves reflected in the curriculum while being challenged to think globally.
Key Responsibilities- Literacy Instruction:
Facilitate engaging lessons in literature, composition, and rhetoric that improve student reading comprehension and writing proficiency. - Curriculum Integration:
Develop and implement diverse unit plans that align with Maine’s Learning Results and Common Core standards. - Writing Workshop:
Lead students through the drafting, peer-editing, and revision process, fostering a “growth mindset” toward writing. - Collaborative Growth:
Participate in department meetings to analyze student data and refine instructional strategies. - Civic Engagement:
Encourage critical thinking and media literacy, helping students navigate and analyze information in a digital age. - Student Connection:
Actively participate in the school community through student advising and extracurricular involvement.
- Certification:
State of Maine (100) 7-12 English/Language Arts Certification. - Clearance:
Current Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) certification. - Instructional Skill:
Proficiency in differentiated instruction to support students across a wide range of reading and writing levels. - Technology:
Ability to integrate educational technology (Google Workspace for Education, etc.) to enhance the learning experience.
