An opportunity is available for a Sign Language Interpreter with experience in educational settings. This travel position involves providing interpreting services within schools to support effective communication for students who use sign language.

Location:

Travel assignments based in Orono, ME, with opportunities to support multiple school environments

Responsibilities:

Facilitate clear and accurate communication between students, teachers, and staff using American Sign Language (ASL)
Support classroom instruction and extracurricular activities by interpreting spoken and signed information
Adapt to different classroom settings and collaborate with educators to ensure accessibility
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards in all interpreting activities

Qualifications:

Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with formal training or certification preferred
Experience working as an interpreter in K-12 educational environments
Strong understanding of educational terminology and classroom dynamics
Ability to travel to various school locations as assigned
Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
