This travel Psych position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a close-knit K–12 school community in Fryeburg, Maine. Located in the scenic western part of the state, Fryeburg is surrounded by rolling hills, access to the Saco River, and nearby mountain ranges, offering a picturesque New England setting with four true seasons. The area is known for its outdoor lifestyle, including hiking, kayaking, skiing, and snowshoeing, as well as a charming small-town atmosphere with local shops, cafes, and community events.

As a school-based Psych professional in this role, you will support students across grades K–12 in a public school environment. You can expect a varied, engaging caseload that spans elementary, middle, and high school populations. Your workday will typically include conducting psycho educational and behavioral assessments, developing and interpreting reports, participating in IEP and multidisciplinary team meetings, and collaborating with teachers, counselors, and administrators to design and implement individualized and school-wide supports.

Core responsibilities include providing direct services such as individual and group counseling, skill-building interventions, and crisis support, as well as indirect services like consultation with teachers and parents, behavior planning, and data-driven progress monitoring. You will play a key role in supporting students’ academic, social, emotional, and behavioral success by integrating evidence-based practices into the school setting. The K–12 structure allows exposure to a wide range of developmental stages and needs, enhancing your professional growth and experience.

The schedule is Monday through Friday, with an expected total of approximately 35 hours per week. There is no guaranteed work week; you will be paid only for hours actually worked and will not be paid for school holidays, teacher workshop days, or school closings due to inclement weather. This structure allows you to enjoy periodic school breaks to explore the region and recharge, while maintaining a consistent weekday schedule when school is in session.

You will work alongside a supportive educational team that values collaboration and student-centered care. The culture emphasizes partnership between educators and mental health professionals, creating an environment where your expertise in assessment, intervention, and consultation is both respected and utilized. The role is entirely onsite; remote or telehealth options are not available, ensuring that you are fully integrated into the school community and able to respond promptly to student needs.

Fryeburg’s location offers convenient access to larger recreational and tourist destinations in western Maine and nearby New Hampshire, including mountain trails, lakes, and winter sports areas. For traveling professionals, this means you can spend your off time enjoying outdoor adventures, exploring historic New England towns, and engaging with a welcoming local community. The blend of meaningful school-based work, scenic surroundings, and a consistent weekday schedule makes this assignment an appealing opportunity for Psych professionals interested in both professional development and quality of life.
