Job Description

The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) Community Education Assistant (CEA) CL3 will plan, deliver, and evaluate food and nutrition education programs in Somerset County. The position is responsible for creating and maintaining community partnerships to enhance and promote EFNEP educational programs to adults with children, young adults, and youth aged 5 to 18 years who are experiencing food and nutrition insecurity.

By educating and empowering individuals to make informed food choices and improve their overall well-being, EFNEP CEAs contribute to building stronger, healthier communities.
Full-time, soft-money funded position, 40 hours per week, 5 days per week. Normal daily work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This position pays $21.09/hour, or applicable transfer rate in accordance with the ACSUM collective bargaining agreement.

The EFNEP Community Education Assistant will be based out of the UMaine Cooperative Extension Somerset County office in Skowhegan, Maine, but is expected to deliver educational programs through the county in the community.

Qualifications:
Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) and four years of relevant experience in community nutrition education or working with food-insecure populations; a combination of post-secondary education and/or lived experience with nutrition insecurity may substitute for work experience.
• Experience working with diverse audiences and supporting civil rights, affirmative action, and equal opportunity goals.
• Strong communication skills, including oral, written, and electronic methods.
• Experience in planning and delivering educational programs for adults and/or youth.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Proficiency with computer applications, including Zoom, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace.
• This position requires regular travel (within the State of Maine). Mileage is reimbursed at the current University rate. The selected individuals must be able to successfully meet this requirement with or without accommodation.
