Sumner Learning Campus houses both Sumner Middle School and Sumner Memorial High School, fostering a community of approximately 480 students spanning grades 6 through 12.

We are seeking a team‑oriented, energetic, and creative educator to teach English Language Arts at Sumner Memorial High School, starting with the 2026‑2027 school year. Applicants must hold or be eligible to hold or be able to obtain a Maine Teacher Certification with a current MDOE Criminal History Records Check. Pay is based upon experience and level of education.

• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
• Guide the student learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and individual student growth.
• Follow and adhere to district‑approved curriculum and work in harmony with individual, school‑based, and district‑approved goals.
• Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.
• Assist the school administration in implementing all policies and rules.
• Develop reasonable rules and expectations for classroom behavior and procedure, and maintain order within the classroom in a fair and just manner.
• Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide feedback to help students grow and develop.
• Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports several times per school year.
• Monitor students for possible educational disabilities, seeking assistance of school and district specialists as required.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
