Special Education Teacher 7-8 Resource for the start of the School Year

Our unique teaching positions allow you to work with your students and be provided with secretary and leadership support, along with dedicated paperwork time up to one full day a week.
We believe that special education teacher positions hold unique responsibilities and it is important to provide structures for our teachers to feel successful and competent in their roles. We have a great department here in MSAD 52 and we are looking for dedicated teachers to be a part of our team.
The Special Education Resource Teacher for Tripp Middle School promotes and develops successful learning for students who are eligible for IDEA services, manages an assigned caseload, maintains regular communication with those students, their parents, and appropriate staff members, and is responsible for development, revision, and implementation of IEPs. The Resource Teacher effectively supports the education of students who exhibit disorders impacting their academic and/or functional performance.
EssentialRequirements
- Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education with 282 Special Educator state certification or conditional certification;
- Ability to learn and provide leadership to staff in areas of special education;
- Excellent interpersonal skills to consult effectively with teachers, administrators, and parents, in a variety of settings;
- Ability to write valid IEP’s, including transition plans, following IDEA procedures;
- Maintain integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, or district patrons;
- The ability to work harmoniously with others;
- Knowledge of age appropriate teaching methods, district curriculum framework, education and special education law and appropriate instructional subjects.
- Assists in screening, evaluating, and recommending placement for all students referred to special education and maintains appropriate records in electronic databases.
- Develops and implements instructional or therapeutic programs which provide for maximum individual academic, behavioral, or physical growth, including crisis intervention if necessary.
- Evaluates, documents, and maintains appropriate documentation of student progress both behavioral and academic.
- Consults, facilitates and monitors student progress in the regular education setting and serves as a resource to school staff.
- Coordinates with the assigned Special Education ed techs providing scheduling, planning, training and support based on ed tech level and student and program need.
- Assists students and families in making a realistic assessment of abilities and establishing a transition plan.
- Confers frequently with parents and professional staff members regarding the educational, social and personal problems and progress of students.
- Maintains and upgrades knowledge and skills through attendance at workshops and conferences and participation in appropriate educational and professional organizations.
- Participates in and facilitates the Individual Education Plan process.
