Position OverviewArt Teacher
Qualifications- Education:
Bachelor's degree in a specific area of teaching - Certification:
Must hold appropriate Maine Department of Education Certification - Appropriate training and preparation for middle school-level instruction
- Program Planning:
Design a program of study that aligns with student needs, interests, and abilities while meeting curriculum goals. - Objective Setting:
Establish clear learning objectives for all lessons and projects. - Instructional Methods:
Employ diverse teaching methods and materials appropriate for meeting stated objectives. - Substitute Readiness:
Organize work and classes so that substitute teachers can step in with minimal loss of learning.
- Engagement:
Create a classroom atmosphere that encourages participation and is appropriate to student maturity levels. - Behavior Management:
Develop and maintain fair and just classroom rules in alignment with district policies to ensure an orderly learning environment. - Safety:
Take all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Regular Feedback:
Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide timely feedback. - Specialized Support:
Identify student learning difficulties and collaborate with district specialists when required. - Accessibility:
Remain available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day as reasonably requested.
- Professional Growth:
Strive for continuous professional improvement. - Team Participation:
Attend staff meetings, serve on committees, and actively participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). - Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law and district policy.
The physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
- Frequent:
Sitting, standing, walking, and climbing stairs. - Physical Tasks:
Bending, pulling, pushing, kneeling, and crouching. - Lifting:
Ability to lift ranging from 25–75 lbs depending on student size and situational needs.
