Principal
Job GoalSupervises classroom and students and volunteers with assistance, advice and support from administration.
Performance Responsibilities- Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
- Communicates regularly with parents by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc.
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
- Identifies student needs and makes appropriate referrals and develops strategies for individual education plans working with the assistance of district specialists as appropriate.
- Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes.
- Plans and coordinates the work of ed. techs and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips.
- Provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the student.
- Creates an environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, interest centers, and exhibits of student’s work.
- Assesses and evaluates the accomplishments of students’ academic and social growth and keeps appropriate records and provides progress reports as requested.
- Demonstrates the ability to read, analyze, and interpret business and educational materials, write reports and correspondence, and present information, while applying mathematical concepts such as statistics, geometry, and trigonometry to instructional practice.
- Applies knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program, plans and implements lessons, establishes relationships with students, peers, and parents, and performs duties in accordance with district requirements and Board of Education policies.
- Creates a flexible elementary grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, motivating students to develop essential skills, attitudes and knowledge for elementary education, in accordance with each student’s ability.
- Maintains confidentiality about all aspects of student performance and records.
- Demonstrates respect for the legal and human rights of students, instructors, and staff.
- Follows health and safety procedures established by the District.
- Arrives and departs punctually, notifying appropriate personnel about absences and coverage.
- Demonstrates dependability, integrity, and other ethical standards.
