Dayton School Department is seeking a dedicated professional to provide academic and social emotional support to students.
Job Responsibilities- Provide direct academic and social emotional support to students in individual, small-group, and classroom settings.
- Reinforce instructional concepts and learning objectives in literacy, mathematics, and other content areas.
- Assist students in completing assignments, organizing materials, and developing effective study and learning strategies.
- Adapt instructional materials and activities to meet diverse learning needs and abilities.
- Collaborate and communicate with staff on monitoring and documenting student progress, academic performance, and behavioral growth.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that promotes student engagement and success.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with students to encourage confidence, resilience, and self‑advocacy skills.
- Provide social and emotional support by helping students develop self‑regulation, problem‑solving, conflict‑resolution, and interpersonal skills.
- Assist students in managing emotions, navigating peer relationships, and responding appropriately to social situations.
- Support positive behavior interventions and reinforce classroom expectations and school‑wide behavioral goals.
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, special educators, administrators, and families to support students' academic and social/emotional development.
- Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, lunch, recess, field trips, and other school‑related functions as assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with school policies and applicable regulations.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and team meetings to enhance student support practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the educational, behavioral, and emotional needs of students.
- Other job‑related duties as assigned by the Building Leader or designee.
- Certification as an Education Technician from the Maine Department of Education.
- Criminal History Record Check (CHRC), including fingerprints on file with the Maine Department of Education.
- Appropriate for Ed Technician certification level.
- Experience working with students.
