Position OverviewThe Life Skills Teacher is a vital role focused on delivering instruction to students with diverse learning needs. You will help students develop the functional, academic, and social‑emotional skills necessary for independence and post‑secondary success.

Key Responsibilities- Individualized Instruction:
Design and implement lessons aligned with IEP goals, focusing on daily living skills, vocational readiness, and functional academics. - Classroom Leadership:
Create a structured, supportive environment that fosters student confidence and real‑world readiness. - Collaborative Advocacy:
Work closely with general education teachers, Ed Techs, case managers, therapists, and families to ensure student progress. - Transition Planning:
Coordinate community‑based learning opportunities and post‑secondary transition activities. - Data & Compliance:
Monitor student progress using data‑driven practices and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with state guidelines.
- Certification:
Maine State Certification in Special Education (282) or eligibility for certification. - Experience:
Previous work with students with intellectual disabilities, autism, or developmental delays is highly preferred. - Expertise:
Knowledge of functional life skills instruction and transition planning. - Mindset: A strong commitment to inclusive practices and the mission of a Unified Champion School.
