Job Description

Position Title: Educational Technician III

Location: Litchfield – Sabattus – Wales, Regional School Unit #4 (Oak Hill Middle School)

Starting Date: Aug 26, 2026

Reports To: Special Education Director, Building Administrator, and/or designated teacher

Job Goal: To use instructional, clerical and management skills to support the educational development of students

Qualifications
  • Certification as an Educational Technician III from the Maine Department of Education
  • CHRC Approval from the Maine Department of Education
  • Experience working with children
  • Skills and proficiencies for basic computer utilization
  • Ability to work with other staff
Performance Responsibilities
  • Become familiar with classroom rules, expectations, materials and assignments
  • Work 1:1 with a student providing instruction to support the curriculum as defined by the teacher
  • Work with small groups of students providing support with the curriculum as defined by the teacher
  • Perform short‑term instruction with indirect professional supervision
  • Support students with testing accommodations
  • Monitor student behavior plans as defined by the teacher
  • Conduct student observations as defined by the teacher
  • Communicate with the teacher about student performance
  • Accompany students during off‑campus activities (may with indirect teacher supervision)
  • Perform lunch or break duty as directed by the Building Administrator
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Building Administrator or supervising teacher
  • Maintain records of student progress, behavior, assignment completion and other areas as defined by the teacher
  • Utilize computer to word‑process, create forms, and/or support student with curriculum expectations
  • Correct student work
  • Prepare calendars, bulletin boards, instructional support materials
  • Meet with supervising teacher on a regular basis
  • Alert teacher to changes in student behavior or performance
  • Maintain organized copies of notes and homework from each class in which you are supporting
Legal and Ethical Duties
  • Maintain confidentiality about all aspects of student performance and records
  • Demonstrate respect for the legal and human rights of students
  • Follow health and safety procedures established by the District
  • Arrive and depart punctually, notifying appropriate personnel about absences and coverage
  • Demonstrate dependability, integrity, and other ethical standards
