Business Academy Instructor About Maine School Administrative District No. 33

Maine School Administrative District No. 33 serves students in grades PreK-12 in St. Agatha, ME, home of the Long Lake Fishing Derby, one of the largest fishing derby's in the state. The district has two (2) schools under one roof, Wisdom Middle/High School and Dr. Levesque Elementary School, a 2018 National Blue Ribbon School. The district is also home to the St.

John Valley Technology Center, serving students from MSAD
33, MSAD
27, and the Madawaska School Department.

Job Summary

Provide students enrolled in the Business Academy program with education and training in the field of business which will enable them upon graduation to enter the job market or continue their education at a post‑secondary level with well‑developed skills, varied intellectual interests, and sufficient understanding and curiosity to continue their growth and maturation as members of the business community.

Qualifications
  • Able to fulfill the Maine Department of Education Certification Requires for certification 898:
    Business Administration/Business Administrator Management.
  • Minimum of three years successful experience in a business related position within the last five years preferred and/or successful experience in a commercial business setting.
  • Master's degree or higher preferred.
  • Competent in current business technology.
  • Teaching and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Maine CHRC.
Performance Responsibilities
  • Pursue and implement dual enrollment agreements with post‑secondary institutions.
  • Prepare and deliver instruction to students on topics such as Personal Finance, Principles of Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Business Management, Business Ethics, Sales, Marketing, and Accounting.
  • Evaluate and grade students' class work, assignments, and papers. Compile, administer, and grade examinations.
  • Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts based on national standards and the common core.
  • Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records. Initiate, facilitate and moderate classroom discussions.
  • The instructor will also incorporate outside business professionals to enhance curriculum and bolster practical application of concepts.
  • Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction.
  • Keep abreast of developments in their field by reading current literature, conducting program advisory meetings, and participating in professional organizations, coursework and conferences.
  • Advise students on academic and vocational curricula, and on career issues.
  • Select and obtain materials and supplies such as textbooks.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching and research issues.
  • Collaborate with members of the business community to improve programs, to develop new programs, and to provide student access to learning opportunities such as internships.
  • Participate in student recruitment, registration, and placement activities.
  • Serve on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies, departmental matters, and academic issues.
  • Participate in school and community events.
  • Adheres to IEP's and differentiated instruction.
  • Incorporates current business technology in course curriculum.
  • Provide entrepreneurial opportunities for student learning.
  • Coordinate with local University and college on delivered curriculum.
