Position: HEALTH TEACHER - CHARLES M SUMNER LEARNING CAMPUS - RSU 24 - 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR
Location: Sullivan

Charles M. Sumner Learning Campus is located in beautiful Sullivan, Maine, approximately 15 minutes east of Ellsworth and 40 miles east of Bangor. The campus is home to approximately 420 students in grades 6 through 12.

We are seeking a high‑energy, reliable, honest, and collaborative colleague who is passionate about students and their content area. Experience building positive relationships with students and collaborating effectively is essential. The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of differentiating instruction for all learners. We are hiring a qualified Health teacher; prior teaching experience is preferred but not required. New graduates are encouraged to apply.

Applicants must hold a Maine Department of Education Teacher Certification and a current MDOE Criminal History Records Check. Pay is based upon experience and level of education. Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver age‑appropriate, standards‑aligned lessons for middle and high school students.
  • Incorporate a variety of instructional methods, including lectures, discussions, hands‑on activities, and technology‑based tools.
  • Address critical topics such as mental health, physical fitness, nutrition, human development, personal hygiene, substance abuse prevention, and decision‑making skills.
  • Foster an inclusive classroom environment that respects diverse perspectives and encourages student engagement.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices and emerging topics in health education.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress and health‑related school initiatives.
