English Teacher - Mt. Ararat High School
Serving Maine’s Midcoast communities of Bowdoin, Bowdoinham, Harpswell, and Topsham, MSAD 75 is home to over 2,350 students and more than 600 faculty and staff members.
Mt. Ararat High School seeks a dynamic, engaging, and passionate teacher of English to join our collaborative English department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Serve as an English teacher of students in grades 9-12 rat High School.
- Develop lessons and provide instruction in diverse English courses in the standard high school progression.
- Collaborate with Mt. Ararat English staff to implement the existing curriculum in assigned courses.
- Maintain and develop assessments to support students in demonstrating rigorous content knowledge within English.
- Collaborate with colleagues, the department leader, school administrators, and RtI specialists to ensure students receive adequate support.
- Manage classroom behavior and support learning for students of varying age ranges and backgrounds.
- Provide meaningful communication with families in support of student learning.
- Support the academic and emotional needs of students participating in school wide programs, including Advisory and the Eagle Legacy Project program.
- Participate in professional work associated with curriculum development, planning, and assessment.
- Support and participate in non‑instructional duties and other responsibilities as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in English or English‑related fields.
- Valid State of Maine Department of Education English/Language Arts Teacher Gr. 6-12 (100) certification.
- Experience and interest in engaging with high school students.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to skillfully manage time and scheduling across diverse needs.
- Skilled in the use of technology and knowledge of student and educational information systems.
- Professional manner, strong emotional intelligence, and desire to collaborate.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Master’s degree preferred.
