Special Education Teacher – Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School
The Oxford Hills School District is seeking excellent qualified candidates for the position of Special Education Teacher to work with students with behavioral needs at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.
EligibilityCandidates must hold a valid Maine certificate or the ability to obtain one with appropriate endorsement(s) (#286 or 282).
ReportingReports to:
Building Principal/Director of Student Services.
180 Day Contract.
Salary and StipendsSalary range: $46,012.50 - $81,329.34 (SY26/27). Additional stipends apply.
- Day Treatment Teachers – $4,500
- Functional Life Skills Teachers – $4,400
- Social Skills Teachers – $3,400
- Resource Room Teachers – $2,000
- Social Workers – $4,450
- Applied Academics Teachers – $4,000

CoreResponsibilities
- Meet students where they are, motivating and helping them develop individual learning paths.
- Hold students to high expectations and provide adequate time and support to achieve them.
- Prepare students for success by helping them develop critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- Foster high aspirations and the skills of self‑determination, self‑control, and self‑advocacy.
- Guide students to be curious learners and ethical leaders, able to adapt to changing times.
- Provide learning experiences in a safe, caring, and welcoming environment.
- Model a strong work ethic, perseverance and grit, as well as responsibility and respect.
- Utilize best practices for motivating today's students in a safe, supportive learning environment.
- Demonstrate knowledge in the development of real‑world learning experiences and community partnerships to provide students with opportunities for extensions of learning, applied learning, community service, and citizenship.
- Demonstrate a willingness and ability to collaborate, engage, and communicate with colleagues, parents and the public.
- Instill problem‑solving and critical thinking as new basics for learning across all grade levels.
- Deliver strong literacy instruction across content areas.
- Help students develop skills to apply, interpret, analyze, and evaluate the vast, ever‑expanding amount of information.
- Employ effective lesson design by adjusting to students' personal learning needs and preferences, including appropriate technology applications.
