Paraprofessional III, Learning Commons At Harpswell Community School

MSAD 75 is seeking a Paraprofessional III, Learning Commons at Harpswell Community School to join our vibrant educational community. Together, we can inspire the next generation of learners and leaders.

Position: 31 Hours/Week, School Year

Hourly Pay Rate: $26.25 - $27.04 (DOE)

Essential Functions:

Provide support to students, staff, and administration in the use of media and technology equipment, including, but not limited to: computers, tablets, internet/networked technologies, audio/visual materials, print, database and other electronic resources.

  • Provide short-term instruction and/or supervision to individual students, small groups of students, and entire classes within a school setting.
  • Collaborate with students, staff, administrators, parents, and community members to support their use of media and technology equipment in traditional and innovative ways.
  • Supervise and efficiently schedule the use of the Learning Commons. Develop and maintain an inclusive, collaborative, and innovative climate within the Learning Commons.
  • Keep current with Children and Young Adult literature, fiction/nonfiction, digital/print.
  • Access, maintain, store, manage and disseminate media and technology equipment. Effectively use district-adopted software systems and tools to support these processes.
  • Provide support for staff and students in accordance with the district's technology plan, district curricula, state, and national standards relating to technology and library concepts and skills.
  • Advocate for, model, and teach safe, legal, and ethical use of information and technology, including the subjects of copyright, intellectual property, and the use of appropriate citation methods in academic work.
  • Assist in the preparation of instructional materials for technology and digital citizenship instruction.
  • Manage effective methods of record keeping for inventory and compliance purposes.
  • Provide end-user technology training and support for students, staff and administration for hardware and software applications.
  • Perform Tier 1 hardware and software troubleshooting for students, staff and administration.
  • Assist in the maintenance and upgrading of district software and hardware.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Valid State of Maine Department of Education Educational Technician III Certification
  • Valid State of Maine Department of Education background check (CHRC) authorization
  • Knowledge of technology, library sciences and digital citizenship.
  • Working knowledge of computers and familiarity with iPads, Chromebooks, Windows and Macintosh operating systems.
  • Ability to learn new tasks, skills and uses for media and computing as it emerges.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with the ability to work with students, staff, parents, and community members.
  • Demonstrated ability to appropriately manage student behavior.
  • Demonstrated written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize a variety of tasks with flexibility and positivity.
  • Successful experience as a Paraprofessional (preferably in a library or computer lab) or professional equivalent.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position.

  • Standing/Walking: 6-7 hours
  • Sitting: 3-5 hours
  • Lifting/Carrying: 3-5 hours, up to 50 pounds
  • Pushing/Pulling/Sliding: 1-2 hours
  • Climbing Up & Down Stairs: 1-2 hours
  • Reaching Overhead: 1-2 hours
  • Bending/Twisting: 3-5 hours
  • Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: 1-2 hours
  • Hands/Arms/Finger Dexterity/Hand Gripping: 6-7 hours
