Assistant Professor Position

The School of Nursing at the University of Maine invites applications for a full-time, academic-year tenure track Assistant Professor position in nursing that is 75% teaching and 25% research.

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Teaching in our BSN, MSN and/or doctoral programs (DNP and/or PhD)
  • Conducting research leading to peer-reviewed publications, conferences or poster presentations, or grants.
  • Participating in scholarly activities in the field of expertise; and
  • Serving on school, university, and public committees.
  • Mentoring undergraduate and graduate students

Qualifications:

Required:

  • DNP and/or PhD in nursing or a related field by the time of appointment from accredited University.
  • Current RN licensure in the State of Maine (or eligibility)
  • Demonstrated ability or potential to teach in the field of discipline at the undergraduate and graduate levels
  • Strong record or promise of scholarship, evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and extramural research funding
  • Demonstrated ability to advise and mentor students
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated scholarship potential and an interest in engaging students in research or translating research into practice.

Preferred:

  • An established research agenda or plan including but not limited to: publications, grant funding, and/or participation in conferences
  • Experience with particular research methods or post-doctoral research experience
  • Record or promise of high professional and institutional service and leadership capacity
  • Permission to work in the United States
