The subject of specialpedagogik at Stockholms universitet is a cross-disciplinary field that bridges several scientific areas, based on the interplay between individual, context, and society. Knowledge in this area focuses on interventions before difficulties arise, as well as facilitating individuals with various disabilities and/or those in socially vulnerable life situations.
The position includes competence and research time according to current terms of employment. The appointed professor should actively participate in developing leading specialpedagogical research from a national and international perspective. This includes research, teaching at basic, advanced, and research levels, as well as leading administrative tasks within the department and faculty.
To be eligible for appointment as a professor, one must have demonstrated both scientific and pedagogical skills. The applicant should have the ability to collaborate and the overall capability and suitability to fulfill the duties of the position well. To perform the duties of the position, the applicant must have documented ability to use Swedish in speech and writing at a professional level.
This is demonstrated, for example, through documented experience of teaching in Swedish or certificates of language skills corresponding to at least B2 level (CEFR).
Special and equal weight is placed on pedagogical and scientific skill. Scientific skill should be demonstrated through independent research efforts in specialpedagogik or a related field that significantly exceed what is required for docent competence, both qualitatively and quantitatively. Planning and management of research, as well as experience with assignments as opponent or member of a grading committee, expert, or reviewer, should also be given significance.
Pedagogical skill is normally demonstrated through teaching at basic, advanced, and research levels. The assessment of pedagogical skill should cover the planning, implementation, and evaluation of teaching, as well as supervision and examination. The pedagogical skill should be well documented in a way that allows assessment of the quality of the pedagogical activities.
Great importance is placed on documented ability to collaborate with colleagues and coworkers. Great importance is placed on successful research supervision demonstrated through active supervision of at least one research student until a successful dissertation.
Great importance is placed on administrative skill and the ability to collaborate with the surrounding community and to inform about research and development work. Great importance is placed on having successfully planned, sought, and obtained grants for research projects from external funders. Great importance is placed on experience in skillfully leading and developing activities, staff, and research projects, as well as having assignments in committees and boards, for example.
Meritorious are the following:
- Higher education pedagogical training or equivalent of at least 15 higher education credits or equivalent knowledge acquired in another way.
- Completed training as a research supervisor.
The position is for an indefinite period, full-time, and the start date is to be agreed upon.
Applicants lacking higher education pedagogical training of at least 15 higher education credits and who have not acquired equivalent knowledge in another way must undergo such training during the first two years of employment.
