Welding & Fabrications Instructor
Maine School Administrative District No. 33, located in St. Agatha, ME, offers vocational programs through its St. John Valley Technology Center.
Position OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated Welding and Fabrications Instructor to deliver comprehensive instruction in welding techniques and fabrication processes to students enrolled in our vocational programs.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and deliver curriculum for welding and fabrication courses, ensuring alignment with industry standards and educational objectives.
- Instruct students on various welding processes including SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW, as well as oxy‑fuel cutting and plasma cutting techniques.
- Demonstrate proper welding and fabrication procedures, emphasizing safety protocols and best practices.
- Provide hands‑on training and guidance to students in the use of welding equipment, tools, and materials.
- Evaluate student progress through practical assessments, written examinations, and project‑based assignments.
- Foster a positive learning environment that encourages student engagement, collaboration, and skill development.
- Collaborate with other instructors and staff to integrate welding and fabrication concepts into interdisciplinary projects and activities.
- Stay current with advancements in welding technology, materials, and industry trends to enhance instructional content and methods.
- Offer mentorship and support to students interested in pursuing careers in welding and related fields, including guidance on certification and job placement opportunities.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment, adhering to all safety regulations and procedures.
- Bachelor's degree in Welding Technology or related field preferred.
- Maine Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) required.
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Certified Welding Educator (CWE) credentials are highly desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in welding and fabrications, with demonstrated expertise in various welding processes and techniques.
- Previous teaching or instructional experience in a vocational or educational setting preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and motivate students of diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
- Commitment to promoting a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous learning.
- Proficiency in Google Suite for Education and instructional technology tools.
