Job Duties- Provides learning opportunities for English language acquisition across district curriculum.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials for customized small and large group instruction.
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to create a conducive classroom atmosphere.
- Regularly assesses each student’s academic and social growth, maintains accurate records, and prepares progress reports.
- Communicates with parents through conferences, newsletters, email, phone calls, student information system postings, web pages, blogs, and other electronic means.
- Secures interpreters and translations of important documents for communicating with families.
- Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff to help students benefit from the district curriculum.
- Creates an effective learning environment through a variety of learning tools.
- Other duties as assigned by administration.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education or a related discipline. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience:
Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade levels is preferred but not required.
Certification:
Eligible for appropriate Maine Department of Education ELL Certification. Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) required.
Salary:
Per Collective Bargaining Agreement.
