Location: Orono

In the School of Engineering Technology, one or more courses may be offered to part‑time, temporary faculty members in fall 2026 and/or spring 2027 in Surveying Engineering Technology.

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: syllabus development aligned with departmental expectations, lesson planning, assignment design, grading, office hours, correspondence with students, use of an online learning management system and/or other instructional software, course coordination meetings with other faculty members, and required orientation and training.

The successful applicant will develop and teach online courses at the undergraduate level of the curriculum and will be open to using teaching styles that reach a wide variety of remote students. Engineering technology faculty members clearly communicate with students the connections between principles and professional practice.

The Surveying Engineering Technology program offers innovative in‑person and online education at the undergraduate and graduate levels to serve both traditional and non‑traditional students. The approximately 400 student population includes B.S. undergraduates, undergraduate Certificate students, M.S. in Engineering Technology and Professional Science Masters students, Graduate Certificate students and Eng.

D. (Doctor of Engineering) students.

Part‑time temporary faculty members may be rehired in subsequent semesters based on course availability, schedule, funding, and performance. Continuation is subject to the terms of the PATFA bargaining agreement and other applicable university policies.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Licensed as a land surveyor in the United States.
  • A Bachelor of Science (or higher) degree in surveying engineering technology or a closely related discipline by date of hire.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Have performed effectively in remote and in‑person collaborative team environments.

Preferred:

  • Masters or Doctoral degree in a surveying engineering technology related discipline.
  • Prior successful teaching experience in surveying or engineering practices.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
