Job Description

Do you want to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young children? Total Care ABA is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our Special Purpose Preschool in Arundel, Maine.

Our program serves preschool-aged children with autism and developmental disabilities, providing individualized educational and behavioral support in a highly collaborative, therapeutic setting. This is an opportunity to be part of a growing program focused on early intervention and positive outcomes for children and families.

As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a key role in creating a structured, engaging, and supportive classroom environment while working closely with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
  • Provide 1:1 and small group instruction tailored to each child’s needs
  • Collaborate with BCBAs, therapists, and support staff
  • Utilize evidence-based practices, including ABA strategies
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation
  • Supervise and support educational technicians and classroom staff
  • Foster a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment
Qualifications
  • Maine DOE Certification as a Special Education Teacher (282 or 286), or eligible to obtain certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Experience working with children with autism and/or developmental disabilities
  • Strong classroom management and behavior intervention skills
  • Experience with ABA or willingness to learn
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
