C. Adams Elementary School. Located in the vibrant university town of Orono, Maine, Asa Adams serves approximately 305 students in grades PK‑5. This combined role is designed for an educator who is passionate about both school leadership and systemic student support. The successful candidate will split their expertise between traditional assistant principal duties—working closely with the Principal to supervise staff and lead the building—and serving as the school's Tier II Behavior Coach, driving social‑emotional programming and MTSS interventions.

Position start date will be August 10, 2026 for the 2026‑27 school year.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate closely with the Principal to support students, staff, and families, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and high‑functioning learning environment.
  • Apply an understanding of developmentally appropriate PK‑5 curriculum and instructional practices to support classroom excellence.
  • Effectively supervise, mentor, and evaluate faculty and staff to promote professional growth and accountability.
  • Actively collaborate with the MTSS team (including administration, school counselor, instructional coach, and classroom teachers) to identify student needs and determine appropriate interventions.
  • Drive the school’s Tier II social‑emotional programming, providing direct services to students on an as‑needed basis.
  • Support classroom teachers in the design, implementation, and monitoring of effective, classroom‑based behavioral interventions.
  • Utilize strong data analysis skills to track student progress, evaluate intervention outcomes, and refine support systems.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Must hold or be eligible for Maine DOE Assistant Building Administrator (045) certification (or equivalent) and Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) approval.
  • Deeply developed understanding of the social and emotional needs of elementary‑aged students, well‑versed in trauma‑informed practices that support both students and their families.
  • Excellent communicator who can build strong relationships with a diverse community of families, staff, and students.
  • Highly self‑directed yet deeply collaborative, with a proven ability to balance administrative duties with hands‑on student intervention.
Benefits

RSU 26 offers a competitive salary, a comprehensive full‑time benefits package, and a supportive, collaborative professional culture.

RSU 26 is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
